US Tax Registration & Compliance EINs, ITINs, W-8 forms and the annual compliance calendar

Forming a US company is the easy part. Keeping it compliant means the right tax numbers, the right withholding forms for payment platforms and clients, and a calendar of federal and state filings that runs all year. We set up the registrations and then keep track of every deadline for owners based in Pakistan and abroad.

US registration and compliance

Set up correctly, then stay compliant

A US entity needs an EIN to open a bank account, get paid by platforms and file returns. Its owners may need ITINs, and its clients and payment processors will ask for W-8 or W-9 forms. After that, each year brings federal returns, information returns and state filings that must not be missed.

The Employer Identification Number is applied for on Form SS-4 and is needed by almost every US entity, including single-member LLCs owned by foreign persons. Individuals who need a US taxpayer number but cannot get a Social Security number apply for an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number on Form W-7, normally with a tax return and certified identity documents. Applicants based outside the US often face delays, so we prepare the forms carefully to avoid rejections.

Withholding certificates matter for anyone receiving US-source income. A foreign individual gives Form W-8BEN and a foreign entity Form W-8BEN-E to establish foreign status and claim any treaty benefit, while a US person, including a US LLC that is not disregarded into a foreign owner, gives Form W-9. Getting these wrong can lead to 30% withholding or to platforms holding payments. Businesses that pay US contractors also have information return obligations, such as Form 1099-NEC.

Beneficial ownership information reporting to FinCEN changed significantly in 2025. Under the interim final rule published in March 2025, companies created in the United States and their beneficial owners are exempt, and the requirement now applies only to foreign entities registered to do business in a US state. We check whether any reporting still applies to your structure and keep track of further changes.

We then build a compliance calendar covering federal returns, Form 5472 where relevant, estimated payments, information returns and state annual reports or franchise taxes. Related services include US EIN assistance, US LLC tax services and US sales tax compliance.

Most US compliance problems for foreign owners start in the first month, with the wrong form given to a bank or payment platform.

FAQs

US registration and compliance questions we hear most

Have a question that is not here? Send it to us on WhatsApp and we will reply the same day.

Do I need an EIN for my US LLC?
Yes. Almost every US entity, including a single-member LLC owned by a foreign person, needs an EIN for banking, payments and tax filings. It is applied for on Form SS-4.
What is an ITIN?
An Individual Taxpayer Identification Number for people who need a US tax number but cannot get a Social Security number. It is applied for on Form W-7, normally with a tax return.
Should I give a W-8BEN or a W-9?
A foreign individual gives Form W-8BEN, a foreign entity gives W-8BEN-E, and a US person or entity gives W-9. A single-member LLC owned by a foreign person generally uses the owner's W-8.
Does my US LLC need to file a BOI report?
Under FinCEN's March 2025 interim final rule, companies created in the US are exempt. Reporting now applies only to foreign entities registered to do business in a US state.
What is Form 1099-NEC?
An information return reporting payments to US non-employee contractors, filed with the IRS and given to the contractor.
What state filings does my company have?
Most states require an annual report and some charge franchise or annual taxes. The details depend on the state of formation and where you operate.
Can you handle everything remotely?
Yes. We work with clients in Pakistan, the UAE and elsewhere entirely online.
How much does US compliance cost?
We charge a fixed fee per registration or an annual package fee. Your first consultation is free.
