A model is only as credible as its assumptions

Investors and lenders do not reject models because the spreadsheet is complicated. They reject them because the assumptions are unsupported, the statements do not balance, or tax and working capital are ignored. We build models that answer those questions before they are asked.

Our models are built from the ground up around how your business makes and spends money. Revenue is driven by real operating assumptions such as volumes, prices, customers or capacity; costs are split into fixed and variable; and capital expenditure, depreciation, working capital and financing are modelled explicitly. The profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statement are fully linked, so every change flows through all three and the balance sheet always balances.

Pakistani tax is built in rather than added as a single line. Models can reflect corporate tax and minimum tax, super tax where income exceeds the thresholds, tax depreciation that differs from accounting depreciation, withholding on payments, sales tax effects on working capital, and dividend tax for shareholders. For projects, we model construction and operating phases, debt drawdowns and repayments, and returns such as IRR, NPV and payback. Scenario and sensitivity tools let you see how results change if prices, volumes, costs, exchange rates or interest rates move.

We follow good modeling practice: inputs, calculations and outputs kept separate, consistent formulas, clear labelling, error checks and no hidden hard-coded numbers. Every model comes with an assumptions sheet that explains where each figure comes from, and a short guide so your team can update it. Where the model supports a funding application or investor pitch, we can walk the reader through it with you. Version control is kept simple, with a change log so you always know which version a reader has seen.

Assumptions are agreed with you, not invented. We start from your historical accounts, then discuss each driver with the people who know it: sales with the sales team, costs with operations, capex with engineering, funding with the owners. Where market data or industry benchmarks help, we use them and cite them. The result is a base case that management believes in, with upside and downside cases that show the range of outcomes honestly.

Models feed many other services: financial projections for lenders, business valuation, feasibility studies and business plans. Tax assumptions are checked by our corporate tax planning team.

We build every model so that someone who did not build it can understand it. That is what makes it credible.

FAQs

Financial modeling questions we hear most

Have a question that is not here? Send it to us on WhatsApp and we will reply the same day.

What is a financial model?
A financial model is a spreadsheet tool that forecasts a business's profit, balance sheet and cash flow from a set of assumptions, used for planning, funding, valuation and decisions.
What is a three-statement model?
A model where the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statement are fully linked, so a change in any assumption flows through all three and the balance sheet balances.
Do you include Pakistani tax?
Yes. We model corporate and minimum tax, super tax where relevant, tax depreciation, withholding, sales tax effects on working capital and dividend tax.
Can the model be used for a bank loan?
Yes. We build models that show debt service, covenants and cash flow, which lenders expect. See financial projections.
What are scenarios and sensitivities?
Scenarios show alternative futures such as best, base and worst cases. Sensitivities show how results change when one assumption, such as price or volume, moves.
Can my team update the model?
Yes. Inputs are kept separate, and we provide a guide and walkthrough so your team can update it.
Which software do you use?
Most models are built in Excel or a compatible spreadsheet, so they are easy to share and review.
How much does a financial model cost?
We charge a fixed fee per model based on complexity and purpose. Your first consultation is free.
