Tax help for Karachi

Port, province and federal tax in one city

Karachi businesses face more tax touchpoints than most. Goods arriving through the port carry customs duty, sales tax and advance income tax at import. Services are taxed by the Sindh Revenue Board under Sindh law. And income tax, withholding and sales tax on goods remain with FBR.

Karachi has several Regional Tax Offices, and its largest taxpayers fall under the Large Taxpayers Office Karachi. Since September 2026, FBR's National Faceless Centre has been taking over audits and assessments nationwide, allocating cases automatically and running replies and hearings through IRIS. For a Karachi business, that means the written file matters more than ever, and it is why we can serve Karachi clients effectively from Islamabad.

Importers pay advance income tax under section 148 and sales tax at the import stage, alongside customs duty. These amounts have to be reconciled with the income tax return and the monthly sales tax returns, and differences are a common trigger for notices. Customs clearance itself is handled by a licensed customs agent; we reconcile the tax paid at import with your books and returns, and help you claim the credits and adjustments the law allows.

Services supplied in Sindh are taxed by the Sindh Revenue Board under the Sindh Sales Tax on Services Act, 2011, with its own registration, monthly returns and notices. Rates differ between services, and the Sindh Finance Act changes them from year to year, so we check the current schedule for your services rather than assume a standard rate. Companies in Sindh should also check whether provincial workers' welfare and profit participation laws apply to them.

We do not have an office in Karachi. Our team works from Gulberg Greens, Islamabad, and Karachi clients send documents by WhatsApp or email and review drafts with us by phone or video. See all our Pakistan tax services, including sales tax reconciliation.

For Karachi importers, the tax paid at the port has to match what the returns claim. Most notices we see start with that mismatch.
