Tax help that knows Islamabad

Islamabad has its own tax set-up

Tax obligations look very different for a salaried officer in G-11, a software house exporting from Blue Area and a family business with property in DHA. Islamabad also has its own administration: the FBR offices that assess you, and sales tax on services under federal rather than provincial law.

Most individuals and businesses in the capital are assessed at the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Islamabad, while larger taxpayers fall under the Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) Islamabad. In September 2026 FBR set up the National Faceless Centre in Islamabad to take over audits and assessments, with cases allocated automatically and notices, replies and hearings handled electronically through IRIS rather than in person. Clear, complete written submissions now decide more cases than ever, and that is where we concentrate our work.

Sales tax on services is another local difference. Services provided in the Islamabad Capital Territory are taxed under the ICT (Tax on Services) Ordinance, 2001 and administered by FBR, while services provided in Rawalpindi fall under the Punjab Revenue Authority. A business working in both cities can have obligations to both, and we work out which rules apply and keep both sets of returns in order.

Every FBR notice carries a compliance date. If it passes without a proper reply, the officer can proceed on the information already on file, which rarely works in the taxpayer's favour. If an order has been passed against you, the first appeal generally lies with the Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) within 30 days, or directly with the Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue by written election. Late filing is also expensive: from 1 July 2026, the surcharge under section 182A for inclusion in the Active Taxpayers List after a late return is Rs 25,000 for individuals, Rs 50,000 for AOPs and Rs 100,000 for companies.

Our office is in Gulberg Greens, and you are welcome to visit, but most clients across Islamabad, from the E and F sectors to Bahria Town and DHA, work with us by phone, WhatsApp and email. See all our Pakistan tax services, or our IT export tax consultancy if you are a freelancer or software exporter.

We share the computation or draft reply with you first. Nothing is submitted to FBR in your name until you have seen it and agreed.

FAQs

Questions Islamabad clients ask us

Have a question that is not here? Send it to us on WhatsApp and we will reply the same day.

Tax is already deducted from my salary. Do I still need to file a return?
Usually yes. Filing keeps you on the Active Taxpayers List, which affects the withholding rates you pay on banking, property and vehicles, and many salaried people are also required to file a wealth statement.
I missed the 30 September deadline. What should I do?
File as soon as possible. Penalties can apply, and from 1 July 2026 the section 182A surcharge for inclusion in the Active Taxpayers List after a late return is Rs 25,000 for individuals.
My notice deadline is in a few days. Can you help?
Yes. Send a photo of the notice on WhatsApp straight away. If more time is genuinely needed, we can request an adjournment, but a reply should always be filed before the compliance date.
What is the National Faceless Centre?
An FBR centre set up in Islamabad in September 2026 to handle audits and assessments electronically, with cases allocated automatically and proceedings run through IRIS.
Does sales tax on services in Islamabad go to FBR or PRA?
Services provided in the Islamabad Capital Territory are taxed under federal law administered by FBR. Services provided in Rawalpindi fall under the Punjab Revenue Authority.
How long do I have to appeal an order?
Generally 30 days from the order. The first appeal lies with the Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals), or directly with the Appellate Tribunal by written election.
Can you take over a case another adviser started?
Yes. We review the file, the notices and the replies already submitted, and tell you where things stand before we continue.
How do your fees work?
Your first consultation is free. Standard returns are charged at a fixed fee; notices, audits and appeals are quoted after we have seen the notice or order. Either way, the fee is agreed in writing first.

Have a deadline coming up?

Whether it is a return, a notice or an appeal, the earlier we see it, the more options you have. Your first consultation is free.
