All federal taxes
Income tax, sales tax and FED appeals.
Whatever the tax, an adverse order has a short appeal window. Our tax appeals service in Pakistan covers income tax, federal sales tax and federal excise orders, with coordination on provincial sales tax on services, so one team handles every appeal your business faces.
Businesses rarely face just one tax. A single audit can produce an income tax order, a sales tax order and a withholding order at once, each with its own forum and deadline. Coordinating the appeals, and keeping the arguments consistent, matters as much as winning any one of them.
For income tax, the first appeal lies to the Commissioner Inland Revenue (Appeals) under section 127 of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001, with an option since the Finance Act, 2025 to elect to go directly to the Appellate Tribunal; further appeal lies to the Tribunal under section 131. For sales tax, appeals lie to the Commissioner (Appeals) under section 45B and to the Tribunal under section 46 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990. For federal excise, orders can be appealed directly to the Tribunal within 30 days following the Finance Act, 2025. Most of these appeals must be filed within 30 days of receiving the order.
Provincial sales tax on services has its own appeal system under each province's law, administered by PRA, SRB, KPRA and BRA, and we coordinate those appeals where they concern the same business or transaction. Beyond the Tribunal, questions of law go to the High Court; our tax litigation page explains that stage.
When several orders arrive together, we start with a single register of every order, its forum, its date of receipt and its appeal deadline. We then decide which issues are common to more than one order, prepare the evidence once, and draft each appeal so the facts and arguments match. Where one order is weak and another strong, we tell you, so you can decide where to spend time and money. Stay applications are prioritised for the orders with the largest recovery risk.
For detail by tax, see income tax appeals and sales tax appeals. FED appeals are covered with our FED compliance service, and appeals that depend on rebuilt records draw on our accounts reconciliation team.
