What business advisory means

Accounting tells you what happened. Advisory helps you decide what happens next

Clean books and filed returns keep a business compliant. Growing it takes something more: forecasts you trust, a clear view of what the business is worth, and senior financial judgement when the big decisions arrive.

Our business advisory team, led by our Director of Advisory, works with owners and boards on the decisions that shape a business: raising capital, expanding into a new market, buying or selling a stake, launching a project or bringing in a partner. Our work follows recognised practice, including three-statement financial models, discounted cash flow and market-based valuation approaches, and the International Valuation Standards where a formal valuation is needed.

Because the same firm keeps books and files taxes for many of our advisory clients, our advice accounts for the tax and compliance consequences from the start. A share transfer, a new investor or a restructuring can change your position with FBR and SECP, so we plan for that alongside our corporate tax planning and management accounting teams.

The most expensive financial decisions we see are the ones made on numbers nobody had checked.
Common mistakes

Where big financial decisions usually go wrong

These are the problems we are most often asked to fix after the fact.

01

Growth without cash visibility

A business can be profitable on paper and short of cash when stock, receivables and expansion costs are not forecast together.

We build 13-week and 12-month cash views.
02

Projections nobody trusts

Investors and banks reject forecasts whose profit, balance sheet and cash flow do not connect or whose assumptions cannot be explained.

We build integrated three-statement models.
03

Pricing shares on gut feel

A share sale or new investment at the wrong value causes disputes between owners and tax questions later.

We value using recognised methods.
04

Skipping due diligence

Buyers inherit undisclosed liabilities, tax exposure and weak controls when a target is not reviewed properly.

We review targets before you sign.
05

Feasibility after the decision

A study written to justify a project already approved hides the risks it was meant to reveal.

We test the idea before you commit.
06

Decisions on stale numbers

Management accounts that arrive months late mean problems are found too late to act on.

We set up timely monthly reporting.

FAQs

Business advisory questions we hear most

Have a question that is not here? Send it to us on WhatsApp and we will reply the same day.

What does a business advisory firm do?
A business advisory firm helps owners and boards make financial decisions: planning growth, raising capital, valuing a business, testing new projects and reviewing acquisitions. It builds on your accounting records and adds forecasting, analysis and senior judgement that day-to-day bookkeeping does not provide.
What is the difference between CFO services and outsourced CFO services?
Our CFO services give you a senior finance leader on a part-time basis for strategy, board reporting and key decisions, working with your existing team. Outsourced CFO services go further and take over the whole finance function, from monthly reporting and budgeting to cash management, led by that senior adviser.
How is a business valued in Pakistan?
Valuers usually combine three approaches: an income approach such as discounted cash flow, a market approach using comparable companies or transactions, and an asset-based approach. The right mix depends on the purpose of the valuation, the quality of the financial records and the industry. We explain which method we used and why.
What is the difference between a feasibility study and a business plan?
A feasibility study tests whether an idea can work, looking at demand, costs, risks and returns before you commit. A business plan assumes you are going ahead and sets out how: strategy, operations, funding and financial projections. Many clients start with a feasibility study and turn it into a business plan once the answer is yes.
Do banks and investors need financial projections?
Usually, yes. Lenders and investors generally expect projected income statements, balance sheets and cash flows, typically covering three to five years, with assumptions they can test. We build projections that connect to your historical accounts so the story holds together under questioning.
When should I carry out financial due diligence?
Before you sign a binding agreement to invest in, merge with or acquire a business. Due diligence reviews the quality of earnings, working capital, debt, tax exposure and controls, and often affects the price and the terms of the deal. Starting early gives you time to negotiate on what it finds.
Do you advise businesses outside Pakistan?
Yes. We work with Pakistani companies expanding to the UAE, the UK and the US, and with foreign businesses entering Pakistan. Our international tax team helps make sure your plans work across each country's tax rules.
How much does business advisory cost?
Fees depend on the scope and complexity of the work, for example a single valuation or an ongoing monthly CFO engagement. Your first consultation is free, and you receive a written scope and quote before any work starts.
